My first accident at 18 years old

One thursday night I was craving some taco bell with my uncle I take my moms suburban because the volvo she drives to work didn't have enough gas to bring me there and back. So as I'm about a few minutes away from home I stop at a red light and I didn't feel like waiting there since I was so hungry I was in a rush. I notice that instead I could take a right on the two lane intersection and save a few minutes as I turn, I made sure I looked turned and bam! I hit a gray sedan. I asked if anyone was hurt I was so scared I actually drove off and I noticed they were following me so I pulled over.
I'm still in shock because I never would of thought my first accident would have occur in a few years.
So I gave him my license and wrote down my license number and plate number.
The accident wasent that serious it left only a little unoticable scratch and same for his. The victim was pissed because I ruined his night and I couldn't agree with him more. I apologized to him because I was so scared of what was going to happen next. In a nutshell I wasent afraid of the cops and thank god they didn't call the cops. I was only afraid of only the two most scariest people MY PARENTS. Eventually me and my uncle had a conversation on the way home and I asked him if I should told
My parents when I got home or act like nothing happened. I grew a pair and told her right away when I got home. She got mad but I think she understood it because I'm a teenager and everyone is bound to get into a accident someday. I am still shocked as. I type this trying to forget about the night. But I think the most important thing is that no one got hurt right. But also most importantly i hope I don't loose trust with my parents but Atleast I didn't lie right? And that's the ending of my horrible night

I know exactly how you feel. The same thing just happened to me yesterday. I freaked out and left. I felt horrible because I know that wasn't the right thing to do. I've been driving for a about a month now and I never thought that my first accident would've happened so soon, but it was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm just glad that no one was injured. The guy followed me as well, but luckily he was a nice fellow. He didn't press charges, he understood that I am a new driver and that I freaked out. I know that is no excuse and I've definitely learned my lesson and know that I still have a lot more learning to do. I'm angry at myself for leaving. My initial reaction was to leave my info for him. I had the paper in my hand and everything. But then I made a phone call and the person told me I should get out of there, so I left. I need to start listening to my own instinct and judgement. If you know what the right thing to do is, you should do it. Listenn to that voice inside your head. I give you props for telling your mother, as I told mine right away as well. It's better to be honest than to live with a lie and the guilt that follows. This is a lesson learned.
