Mini-van verses Volvo wagon

A couple years ago on Labor day, my friends and I decided to go out and get ice cream. Our friend, being the only one with a car decided she would drive so we all got into her Volvo and went off.
On our way downtown as we were going through an intersection, a mini-van t-boned us and caused us to slide into the next lane. When we stopped to get out and look at the car and to see what happened, we saw that the whole left side of the car was completely damaged, one tire was popped and bent and another was twisted sideways.
The only damage to the mini-van was that their front bumper fell off. We were all ok, since we had been wearing our safety belts, but the car was totaled.
The mini-van that hit us was actually full of kids ranging from mid-teens to an infant and one of the teenagers had been driving and did not stop at the intersection like they should have. Their mother tried to say she had been driving (so it wouldn't look like she let her unlicensed child drive) and even tried to blame us for driving too fast! Like it would have made a difference even if we had!!
Luckily, it was a nice day and warm out. We ended up sitting on the side of the road for an hour until a tow truck showed up and took the car away and we walked back to our apartment. The funny thing is, we stopped in an ice cream shop on the way home so we still got what we went out for in the first place!
