Defect May Cause Wheels To Fall Off Dodge Durango and Dodge Dakota Trucks
DaimlerChrysler is recalling 600,000 Dodge Durango 4x4s and Dakota trucks and 400,000 4x2s. The defect may cause the trucks wheels to fall off.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) already has several reports of accidents possibly related to the defect.
DaimlerChrysler was asked to initiate this recall and has agreed to replace the vehicle upper ball joints of the front suspension.
This current recall includes
600,000 Dodge Durango 4x4 SUVs and Dodge Dakota pickups.
400,000 Dodge Durango 4x2 SUVs and Dodge Dakota pickups.
Owners may expect postal notification letters to be mailed before the end of Dec 2004.
It is often requested that owners wait until the notification letters arrive before continuing with the recall. However, often many local dealers are able to complete the recall before notification letters are all sent.
