The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regularly announces vehicle safety car recalls in an effort to inform and urge owners to get problems repaired quickly.

In the United States, safety car recalls must be performed at no charge to the customer.  Car manufacturers are required by law to mail notices of car recalls to owners and dealers.

Notices get lost in the mail or discarded as junk mail.  Even after these attempts to notify customers, only 72% of owners affected by safety issue car recalls have the recall work completed.  Chevy Malibu Recalls
